An-Sofie Vanhouche

An-Sofie Vanhouche holds a Master degree in Criminology and works as a researcher at the Criminology department of the Free University Brussels. She is a member of the research group Crime & Society, research line Penality and Society and the research group FOST (Social and Cultural Food Studies).
In 2011 she obtained her Master degree with a thesis entitled: “Innocently imprisoned: The Consequences for People who are Acquitted after Being Remanded in Custody”. In 2012 she worked as a researcher for the study of Beyens & Boone (2013) in the prison of Tilburg. Currently, she is preparing a PhD on the role and significance of food in a prison context (promotor Prof. Dr. Kristel Beyens and co-promotor Prof. Dr. Peter Scholliers).
