Van Keulen Jolien

Jolien van Keulen studied Film and Television Studies at Utrecht University and obtained her master’s degree in Media Studies at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. After her studies she worked as a research assistant at the University of Amsterdam on a sociological study on aesthetic styles in fashion magazines. She also worked in advertising research and started in 2014 at the VUB as a teaching assistant and PhD student. Her research focuses on the transnationalization of the television industry and its reflections on form and content of TV entertainment. Jolien is interested in the role of local culture and identity in global television and in the cross-border exchange of knowledge, practices and content.
