Lissens Silke


Silke Lissens graduated as a Master in Communication Studies at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Free University Brussels) in 2010. Since then, she has gained experience in doing scientific research on the Sponsoring Policy of Belgian’s National Lottery and in teaching, both in elementary and secondary education. From September 2014 onwards she is involved in the IWT-SBO funded AdLit-project, seeking to enhance knowledge of young people’s advertising literacy in Flanders, in dialogue with educational, policy and industry stakeholders. Within this project she is preparing a PhD, under the supervision of professor Joke Bauwens, on how tweens from disadvantaged social backgrounds experience the commercialization of childhood and the changing nature of advertising targeted towards them.
