Miet Adriaens

Miet Adriaens (1986) studied history at the University of Leuven (KU Leuven), where she graduated in 2009 with a MA dissertation on the search for power brokers by the seigniory of Diest (1515-1568). Since June 2014, she works as a doctoral researcher at the Centre for Historical Research into Urban Transformation Processes (HOST), where she prepares a PhD on nobility and state formation in the sixteenth-century Low Countries (case studies: Brabant and Flanders), under supervision of Prof. Dr. Frederik Buylaert (VUB) and co-supervision of Prof. Dr. Violet Soen (KU Leuven). She will focus on how the management of seigniorial lordship, as the source of noble status, shaped the relations between the nobility and princely government.
