Joeri Januarius

Joeri Januarius graduated from the History Department at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2005 . His Master's thesis analyzed the relationship between the socialist trade union ABVV and the compulsory unemployment insurance in postwar Belgium (1945-1970). In 2006, he obtained a Master's in journalism at the Erasmushogeschool in Brussels, after an internship at the offices of the newspaper De Tijd. In 2006 and 2007, he was a researcher at the History Department of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, working on a research project about 'miners and material culture. As of September 2007, he is preparing a Ph.D. on material culture, everyday life and consumption of workers in postwar Belgium, devoting special attention to visual culture as a source in history writing. He was the co-organizer of the Conference on the Historical Use of Images. As of September of 2013, he is a voluntary scientific researcher at the History Department and the Communication Department of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
