Bio

Rita Temmerman is co-ordinator of Centrum voor Vaktaal en Communicatie (CVC) at Erasmushogeschool Brussels and teaches translation and terminology theory as well as terminology management at the Applied Linguistics Department. She obtained her degree in Germanic Philology from The University of Antwerp, her Masters in Translation from the State University of New York (USA) and her PhD in Linguistics from the University of Leuven. Based on case studies on categorisation and naming in the life sciences (DNA technology) she developed the sociocognitive terminology theory. In 2000, she published Toward New Ways of Terminology Description. The Sociocognitive Approach (John Benjamins, Amsterdam/Philiadelphia).
